About the partnership

In 2016, farmers, scientists, and researchers have joined together to define and measure indicators that define sustainability through a pilot project through a USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Regional Conservation Partnership Program project administered by the Flint River Soil and Water Conservation District. This resulted in the formation of the Peanut Sustainability Partnership, who now lead data collection, analysis, and verification of these indicators annually.

Farmers.

It all begins with the farmers. Farmers make choices every day to ensure the economic and environmental sustainability of their operations. From investing in precision agriculture technologies to specific variety selection, and every decision between.

Researchers.

Research partners are critical for the continued sustainability of peanut production. Research efforts have resulted in tools such as Irrigator Pro for smarter irrigation scheduling, to breeding new peanut varieties that require fewer inputs to produce.

Government Agencies.

Government agencies and programs not only specifically support farmers through technical assistance and cost share for sustainable practices, but support outreach, education, and research initiatives.
